Some very old friends of mine are German (Renate) and Scottish (Ian) and their children grew up not only speaking both English and German but also with wonderful accents that were a combination of both parents'. <br /><br />Their son and his Japanese girlfriend have recently had a baby daughter and I'm sure she will sound equally delightful when she begins to speak!
